Jesus Lover of My Soul
The history of this song goes back to my Coast Guard days when I would haul my guitar around with me on my back as I walked the streets of downtown Seattle. I lived on a 378' cutter and stored my guitar in my small locker on board. On my days off, I loved taking out my guitar and finding some place to play it. I am not very skilled at it, but I know enough to enjoy playing songs that have easy chords like G, C, D, and F! Sometimes I would play on the mess deck in my boat (that is where everybody eats or hangs out. It is a medium sized dining room with tables and benches), and other times I would go to the park by Pike's Place Market where I'd find a nice spot where I could gaze out over the Puget Sound and work on playing or writing a song. Sometimes homeless people would interrupt me and I would have to move on to a quieter spot. Anyway, those were the days! My life ever changes, but the God whom I love and serve changes NOT. The Lord Jesus Christ remains the same from age to age and I am so thankful to him that he has given us the gift of words and music so that we can sing to His holy name.
Jesus Lover of my soul
My greatest Joy in You I am made whole
Your love is truly better than life
And I will live with my eyes fixed upon Christ (x2)
Unto You Lord
I lift up my voice
To declare Your praise
In You I rejoice
For You are the Lamb
Sacrificed in my place
You bore God's wrath
O I am saved by grace
I am saved by Your grace
Jesus sustainer of my faith
My solid hope in Your arms I am safe
You keep me strong till the end
My righteousness and my dearest friend
